1995 FLIER

PASS PATROL

FLIERS WERE HANDED OUT DURING THE YEAR AT TRAVEL SHOWS AND MAILED TO THOSE REQUESTING INFORMATION.  THESE PAGES REPEAT MUCH FROM THE JANUARY, 1995 EDITION.

100 DAYS TO CHOOSE FROM EVERY YEAR!

This will be the third year for Pass Patrol’s infamous 100 day schedule.  It is an ambitious itinerary by anyone’s standards, but it sure gives our members a full menu to choose from.  The average Trail Scout member attended one trip per month in 1994.

The first 100 day calendar was printed in February of 1993 and handed out at the RV, Sports, Boat & Travel show in March.  There weren’t enough members to keep that calendar busy in ’93.  Only 70 days actually ran and on many of those, there was only me and one other person.

Another 100 day calendar was printed in Feb of ’94.  Membership grew some and we had members signed up for every trip.  Mother Nature did not always cooperate and some trips ended quickly.  Some never left town.  86 of the 100 days ran.  Except for a few exceptions, every trip ran with at least three vehicles.  The average was five vehicles and the largest trip included ten vehicles.  Now we’re ready fo ’95!

TRIP DESTINATIONS ARE CONTROLLED BY MOTHER NATURE.

March, April, & May are the best months for Utah.  June is too hot in Utah and the only thing is Colorado open that early is low level roads and graded roads.  The snow mostly goes away in July and near everything is open in August and September.  If it does not rain, October is normally good in both Colorado and Utah.

TRIP STRUCTURE EVOLVED AROUND FEEDBACK FROM OUR MEMBERS.

The structure for trips kind of evolved from trial and error in ’93 and ’94.  Basically, the majority of our members: do not like to arrive at camp after dark on any day, do not like to leave camp until about 9am, likes the flexibility to join a trip already in progress, leave one before it’s finished, and prefers to commute to and from the trip at their own pace.

That paragraph roughly describes the framework making up our two structures for ’95.
